Lead Insight
Fortescue priced US$1.5 billion of six-year senior unsecured notes at a 7.0% coupon, maturing in November 2032. Cross-currency swaps over the full principal convert the debt into a fixed CNH9.95 billion liability at an effective rate of about 3.9%, against the 7.0% US dollar coupon. Proceeds go to general corporate purposes, which may include repaying debt, with settlement expected on 12 November.

JLL +31.2%:Jindalee Lithium
The US SEC declared effective the Form S-4 for US Elemental’s business combination with SPAC Constellation Acquisition Corp I, clearing Constellation to call its shareholder meeting. US Elemental is expected to list on Nasdaq as ULIT and hold the McDermitt lithium project in Oregon, with Jindalee retaining 80% or more at closing. Completion and listing are targeted for Q4 2026, subject to Nasdaq approval, Constellation’s vote, a US$14 million minimum cash condition and a US$20 million to US$30 million PIPE.
BVR +28.1%:Bellavista Resources
Bellavista’s most recent project update, on 22 October, reported first assays from its Pickle Crow drilling in Ontario, including downhole intersections of 12.2m at 2.6g/t gold from 116m and 3.4m at 4.0g/t gold, including 0.8m at 15.0g/t, from 43.2m. The drilling is testing open pit potential in the top 260m of a 1Moz at 4.1g/t near-surface resource, part of a 2.8Moz at 7.2g/t Inferred resource, with some holes intersecting mineralisation below the 2023 pit shells set at US$1,850/oz gold. Two rigs are drilling into 2027.
AVM +22.6%:Advance Metals
Advance Metals’ latest disclosure, the 30 October quarterly, highlighted hole GV-26-008 at its Gavilanes silver project in Mexico, which returned 4.6m at 945g/t silver, 1.4% zinc and 1.0% lead from 66.7m, including 1.0m at 4,120g/t silver. A maiden JORC resource for Gavilanes is targeted for Q4 2026. Cash was A$2.1 million at 30 September, or 0.97 quarters of funding, and the company says it is in discussions with interested parties on a capital raising.

Top Losers
TER -19.4%:TerraCom
TerraCom’s latest disclosure, the 30 October financial update, showed a September quarter loss of A$22.4 million on revenue of A$55.7 million, cash of A$3.3 million and net assets of A$1.4 million, down from A$23.9 million at 30 June. A material going concern uncertainty remains, and funding relies on the second US$10 million tranche of a coal prepayment, which depends on a November trial shipment meeting a minimum quality specification. If the specification is missed, directors expect a further 3% to 5% price discount, and without agreement TerraCom would repay about US$8 million of the first tranche in cash.
CP8 -14.8%:Canadian Phosphate
Canadian Phosphate’s latest disclosure, the 26 October quarterly, reported 18 holes for 2,638m at Wapiti, with the phosphate Main Zone visually intersected in every hole that reached the target horizon and mineralisation traced over about 9km of strike, but laboratory assays remain pending. Cash was A$3.144 million at 30 September, and extraction of the 10,000-tonne Barnes bulk sample was postponed to Q2 2027. First assay results are expected in the December quarter.
LRM -12.5%:Lion Rock Minerals
Lion Rock’s latest disclosure, the 29 October quarterly, reported auger rare earth assays at Minta Est in Cameroon of up to 2.3m at 4.54% TREO from surface, with a diamond rig being expedited to test beneath the saprolite the augers could not penetrate. Results from 167 of the 761-hole Minta Est campaign have been reported, with the rest due in batches over coming months. Cash was A$4.55 million at 30 September, or 2.1 quarters of funding.

Fortuna Authorizes US$250 Million Diamba Sud Commitments Before Final Permit
Fortuna’s board authorised management to enter contractual commitments totalling US$250 million over the life of Diamba Sud, allowing critical contracts, equipment and construction to proceed before the exploitation permit is granted. The permit is expected in Q4 2026, after Senegal’s Notice of Admissibility announced on 2 November, alongside a new Mining Convention still under negotiation. The decision came with third-quarter results of 69,665 gold equivalent ounces and US$90.8 million in free cash flow from ongoing operations.

African Mining Finance
Appian Capital Advisory has deployed about 70% of the International Finance Corporation’s initial US$100 million commitment to their emerging markets mining fund, launched in 2025. The capital went into three investments: Asante Gold’s mines in Ghana, the Omico Copper project in Namibia and Atlantic Nickel’s nickel-copper-cobalt operation in Brazil. Appian expects to deploy the balance by year end and is in talks with the EBRD and other development finance institutions to replicate the partnership.

Nickel Supply and Jobs
Sherritt will temporarily lay off about 280 employees, 47% of its Canadian workforce, for roughly 90 days to preserve liquidity while refining at Fort Saskatchewan stays halted, with ammonia fertiliser and sulphuric acid production continuing. Refining stopped on 22 June when feed inventory ran out, and Sherritt suspended direct participation in its Cuba joint venture on 7 May after US Executive Order 14404 expanded sanctions. It received the first of a series of anticipated OFAC emergency licences on 19 October, with more needed to restart Cuban mining and processing and Canadian refining.

China’s Copper Premium Is Rising Because Supply Is Tight, Not Because Demand Is Booming
China’s refined copper spot premiums hit a new year-to-date high on 4 November as spot trading rose slightly while spot copper prices fell. Mysteel says the rise reflects supply contraction with limited demand-side acceptance, and that high premiums plus a steep backwardation futures spread held back downstream buying. Scrap supply is tightening, with compliant invoiced scrap both expensive and scarce, and refined copper rod orders fell on elevated processing fees.
